The County Administrator is responsible for carrying out the policies and ordinances of the County Council, for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the county, and for appointing all non-elected county department heads. The County Administrator supports County Council’s ability to make sound decisions by carrying out those decisions in an efficient and effective manner; providing strategic leadership, operational oversight and ensuring sound management of available resources. Regular functions of the Administrator include providing County Council with information and analysis; making appropriate recommendations when necessary, preparation and presentation of the annual operating budget and the capital improvement plan, review of departmental performances, oversight of capital projects, and participation in economic recruitment activities.
The County Administrator is appointed by the County Council and is assisted by a deputy administrator.
