In cooperation with internal and external partners, we enhance protective actions against Fire, Hazardous Materials and WMD related events. We do this by administering and sponsoring comprehensive programs that utilize highly specialized resources of equipment, personnel and training.
The Fire Marshal’s Office is responsible for training and coordinating those involved with pre-identified Special Purpose Response Teams throughout the county. Fire Marshal personnel are on duty around the clock to monitor significant emergency events that may adversely affect the residents of Spartanburg County. Some of the departments key responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Provide Spartanburg Community with Specialized Emergency Response Teams/Functions (FIT Team, HazMat, Spartanburg Unified Command Post)
Manage county-wide outdoor warning system
Conducts training and exercise programs for their respective teams
Manages and trains the County’s FIT, Haz/Mat & Command Center teams
Assumes OEM on-call responsibilities at certain designated times
