BMW supplier International Mold Corp. announced more details about its new plant in Spartanburg County. Upstate Business Journal initially reported on June 30 that the Michigan-based company planned to build the 24,000-square-foot facility, which has the potential to be expanded to 100,000 square feet, on 10.5 acres at 865 Victor Hill Road. International Mold said the facility behind the BMW Performance Center off Highway 101 near Greer represents a $6.2 million investment and will create 60 jobs. “We are very excited to expand our operations to South Carolina,” said Michael Lilla, International Mold’s treasurer, in a statement. “There is a lot of business potential within South Carolina’s automotive cluster, as well as other opportunities in neighboring states.”

The company, founded in 2006, offers a variety of services, including aluminum injection, reaction injection molding and blow mold design and build services, as well as engineering, in-house tryouts and low-volume production runs, prototype and low-volume production assembly, 3-D laser scanning, reverse engineering logistics and other services. International Mold said it has more than 100 employees at seven facilities and utilizes state-of-the-art technology to supply products to a variety of industries.

“Spartanburg enthusiastically welcomes the addition of International Mold Corporation to our vibrant manufacturing community,” said Spartanburg County Councilman David Britt, in a statement. “International Mold Corporation’s decision to locate their facility in Spartanburg County demonstrates our community’s ability to attract quality companies providing excellent job opportunities for the citizens of Spartanburg.”
