BOILING SPRINGS MAN SENTENCED TO 30 YEARS FOR DRIVE-BY KILLING

A Boiling Springs man received a 30-year prison sentence tonight for his involvement in a fatal drive-by shooting on Spartanburg’s west side.

Chan Soheap Bun, 23, was found guilty of murder and two counts of assault with intent to kill at the conclusion of a three-day jury trial. Bun is one of three people charged with the Oct. 12, 2006 shooting death of Cleve L. Jeter, 24, of Spartanburg. The victim sustained a fatal wound to his chest during a drive-by shooting at a Hunter Philson Drive home. Two other people were nearly struck by the gunfire.

Chan Bun was the driver of the vehicle. He fired his weapon twice. A passenger, Sok Bun, 18, received a life prison sentence in October after he pleaded guilty to murder. Sok Bun fired the fatal bullet.

“Chan Bun was an active participant and he was convicted under the hand one, hand of all theory,” Assistant Solicitor Jessica Thill said.

Chan Bun will serve every day of Circuit Judge Lee Alford’s prison sentence. He is not eligible for parole.
